L’Esquellada

L’ Esquellada takes place every year on the 5th January, the Three Kings Day eve. It’s a singular and ancient tradition that serves to call and attract the Three Wise Men towards the village.
Early in the morning children walk around streets and squares, making a lot of noise, striking cowbells and singing Christmas carols.
Children make so much noise in order that the Three Kings hear them and don’t pass by the village. This way, they will be able to deliver their presents at all the houses.
After such a noisy morning, there is nothing left than waiting for the evening. Then it’s time to go out with paper lanterns and guide Their Majestys The Kings towards the right way with their lights.
