Guardiola de Berguedà is a municipality located in the north of Berguedà region. It is situated in the confluence of Bastareny and Llobregat rivers and it is composed from various territories and ancient parishes, such as the chapel of Santa Eulàlia de Cal Vilella, Sant Martí de Broca church, or the ones from Sant Andreu de Gréixer and Sant Genís de Gavarrós.

It was a mainly rural village until the 18th century, when the area industrialized, thus becoming an industrial, mining and above all a commercial municipality. By the middle of the 20th century it converted to a tourist area, specialized in nature and historic tourism, with different and important points of interest.

The Monastery of Sant Llorenç

Figuring in documents since 898 year, it is a jewel of the architectural heritage of Guardiola de Berguedà. It was restored from 1982 to 2008 and currently it is a cultural centre, offering a creative and collaborative programming of festivals, exhibitions, theatre, dance, musical vermouth…

Oil mine of Riutort

The mine will remain closed until further notice

It is one of the few underground oil mines in the world. An item of historical curiosity from the Industrial Revolution in Berguedà region.
The tour runs along the 340 metres gallery, similar to a natural cave, with the peculiarity of seeing oil dripping.
