16. Santa Maria de Lillet Church
As a result of the growth that the municipality suffered in the 17th century and due to the inconvenience to move to the church of the Monastery to pray, the primitive chapel of Sant Antoni Abat was substituted for the church of Santa Maria you have in front of you. Bigger and more spacious, work of Jacint Moretó, it was finished in 1784.
It is a church of baroque style of one single nave with barrel vault, with four side chapels on each side. Over time it has suffered several modifications, mainly due to the damage caused during the Spanish Civil War.
Currently it is decorated with lively colours and valuable images. Over the canopy of the High Altar there is the sculpture of Assumption of Mary by Frederic Marés. Dominating this same altar there is an image of Christ in Majesty (formerly in the Monastery), which is a Romanesque Christ in Majesty of the 12th century of polychromatic, carved wood.
The last alteration of the church was completed in 2005, when the refurbishment of the façade was carried out.
