Castellar de n’Hug
It is a municipality in the region of Berguedà, located at the headwaters of Llobregat river and bordering Ripollès region.
Castellar de n’Hug was awarded in 1984 by the Ministry of Tourism as one of the most emblematic villages in our country and tourist spot. Set in a privileged environment, we will find places of special beauty, such as the source of Llobregat river, Santa Maria Church, built in Romanesque style, with its amazing tower bell and Sant Vicenç de Rus church, also in Romanesque style and dating from the 11th century.
The famous International Shepherd Dog Contest takes place at the end of August.
The source of Llobregat river
Located just below the village of Castellar, it is the place where Llobregat river springs, where water coming from storm waters and snow flows from a calcareous rock. From its viewpoint you will be able to contemplate and enjoy its strenght and beauty.
Cement Museum
Located in Clot del Moro, it is an imposing modernist building promoted by Eusebi Güell in 1901. The building is the work of the architect Rafael Guastavino and it was the first industrial cement factory in Catalonia. Currently it has been reconverted into a museum.
The Shepherd Museum
It is dedicated to a trade that is currently in danger of disappearing. The museum offers a compilation of information about the past, present and future of shepherd’s job.
