14. Square of the Mill of the Village (Plaça del Molí de la Vila)
The economic backbone of La Pobla de Lillet from its origins had been the textile industry, in its beginnings in particular the wool industry; making the municipality one of the three most important areas of Catalonia in this type of manufacture. Weavers, wool carders (craftsmen that prepared the wool for weaving), combers, dyers, and so on; there were many jobs that were brought together around this sector.
It is worth noting the huge importance that windmills had in this place, often flour mills and wool batting mills. Precisely in the place you are now, there had been one of the most important mills of the municipality. From this mill comes the town tradition of dancing the Dance of Millers for Carnival, depicting the public scorn the people from the town made to the miller when he sold them a mixture of flour and ashes.
