5. Bridge of Limping Arch (Pont d’Arc Coix)
The curious name of this bridge is due to its peculiar architecture. While normally bridges have a pier on each side of the river, this one only has one leaning pier to solve the incline from one riverbank to the other.
From here we see the defile the river has made over the years with its force and the genius of the architect to unite the two riverbanks with a harmonious effect.
The lever we are now stepping on was not part of the original design either, but the Artigas had it built to have easier access to the other riverbank through the small passageway between the warehouses of his factory.
Let’s continue walking up the stairs to our right, where we will see the second iron door that blocked the access to the upper part of the stairway when the family wanted to keep their privacy.
